Canis Welfare Pet Club (Regd.), Delhi celebrated “World Veterinary Day-2023”

The beautiful evening was attended by over 500 veterinarians of Delhi & NCR. Veterinarians working across different sectors including veterinarians working at Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GOI, Officers from Delhi Government, Animal Husbandry Unit, Vets from Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Private Practitioners, Vets engaged at Armed forces (CAPE), Academicians, Animal Welfare Organizations and others took part in the celebration of “World Veterinary Day” organised by Canis Welfare Pet Club, Delhi.

Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Government of India presided as the Chief Guest of the event. Dr.(Mrs) Sunita Balyan Wife of Dr. Sanjeev Balyan, Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Draying also attended the event as Guest of Honour.

Every year ‘World Veterinary Day’ is celebrated on 29th April - an initiative by World Veterinary Association since 2000. This year, for the first time Veterinary Council of India, and Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GOI has also celebrated World Veterinary Day on 29th April 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Canis Welfare Pet Club (Regd.), Delhi also proudly hosts World Veterinary Day for vets of Delhi & NCR since 2016. Like every year, Canis Welfare Pet Club (Regd.) facilitated prominent veterinarians with awards to motivate fellow vets to follow their path. This year Life Time Achievement Award was presented to Col.( Dr.) Ranadhir De, Professional Excellence Young Veterinarian Award was given to Dr. Arvind Kumar & Inspiring Lady Veterinarian Award was achieved by Dr. Sunita Nauriyal.

Besides them, the Club also facilitated Dr. Vikram Yadav (President, Delhi Veterinary Council), Dr. Pradeep Yadav (Vice President, Veterinary Council of India), Dr. Devi Shankar Rajoria (Member, Veterinary Council of India), Dr. Bhupender Chahal (President, Small Animal Veterinary Association, Delhi), Dr. Preetpal Singh (President, Pet Practitioners Association, Uttar Pradesh), Dr. Vishal Sharma (General Secretary, Pet Practitioners Association, Delhi), Dr. Sanjeev Wadhwa (President, Small Animal Veterinary Association, Gurugram), Dr. Dipankar Seth (Zonal Secretary, Indian Veterinary Association), Dr. H R Khanna (Joint Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, GOI), Dr. Lt Gen P R Venkatesh, Dr. Rakesh Singh (Director, Animal Husbandry , Delhi Government), Dr. Kuldeep Singh (Director, Veterinary Service Department, Municipal Corporation Delhi), Dr. Rajiv Khosla (President, Delhi Veterinary Association), Brig.(Dr.) K V Rappai, VSM, Col(Dr.) V K Bhatnagar, VSM & Dr. Nagendra Yadav (Specialist Exotic Animals , New Delhi).

Dr. Vijay Kr, Secretary, Canis Welfare Pet Club, Delhi said “Every Year Canis Welfare Pet Club celebrates World Veterinary Day so that the Vets of Delhi and NCR could participate and feel proud to be the part of the Noble profession serving the speechless animals.” Col.( Dr.) Ranadhir De, President, Canis Welfare Pet Club expressed his happiness to organise such event for vets of Delhi and NCR. He said “Veterinarians are working silently and continuously for the wellbeing of Animal Health which is the vital component of ‘One Health’. The role veterinarians play in Animal welfare and in turn in ‘One Health’ often goes unnoticed. Society as a whole should come forward to appreciate the efforts veterinarians put into everyday to keep a society healthy both physically and mentally.”
