Aims to create safe and dignified environment for women folk, felicitation ceremony to be organised on International Women's Day on March 8

Srinagar, March 06: With just two days to go, J & K Chapter of International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) is all set to organise a grand Walkathon titled "Walk for Cause, zero tolerance-crime against women" to recognise and commemorate the dignity and honour of women folk.

Scheduled to be taken up on the bank of world famous Dal Lake in Srinagar, the mass participation of men and women is expected to glorify the Walkathon from Eco park to Duck park on the Hazratbal-Nishat Foreshore road on Saturday March 09 at 08:00 a.m.

This grand event organised by J & K chapter in collaboration with Maverick Foundations., has been receiving an overwhelming response by the people from all walks of life and locals including youth activists, employees, housewives, students, elderly and sports persons have been showing great enthusiasm to be part of this historic Walk.

A day earlier, on the eve of International Women's Day, IHRO has also organised a grand felicitation ceremony in Tagore Hall Srinagar on March 8, where women achievers who have done exemplary work on various stages of life are being felicitated with mementos and certificates.

This will be the maiden mega event in Jammu & Kashmir region for which preparations are going on at great pace and many administrative organisations, NGOs, educational institutions and commercial establishments are joining hands with IHRO for the smooth and successful conduct of the mega event. This is for the first time in the history of the Jammu and Kashmir that International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) is holding such a prestigious mega event in Srinagar.

IHRO, an organization working to protect human rights at the global level, has recently revived it's Jammu and Kashmir Unit to prepare a platform and team to engage in developmental projects . The organization aims to involve more and more people in this campaign by providing necessary information about the organization, human rights and values. The preparations are going on very well and IHRO's J&K unit under the complete guidance of the IHRO Core team from National Headquarter, Delhi led by Hon’ble world Chairman Dr. Nem Singh Premi and dynamic supervision of the Secretary General Alok Singh along with Asif Iqbal and whole team stationed in Srinagar has given a huge momentum to the process of strengthening the roots of IHRO in J&K.

J&K team led by Zonal Coordinator Bhat Altaf and Director Arshad Yousuf have been playing pivotal role not only in preparations for the forthcoming events but also to spread the message of the IHRO ensuring membership drive across J&K to give more strength and stability to the organization.

Pertinently, IHRO recently opened and established it's J&K chapter Headquarters in Srinagar. The state office HQ was inaugurated by the Chief Advisor IHRO, S.S Sandhu in a brief but colourful opening ceremony held on Friday, March 01 2024. The said office is located in Wani Manzil, Kursoo Rajbagh, Srinagar.
