World Rabies Day is celebrated in Delhi by Delhi Veterinary Association

World Rabies Day is celebrated in Delhi by organizing a mega camp at Veterinary Hospital, Nagli Dairy. In this event almost 379 pets (dog & cats) were vaccinated with Anti rabies vaccination. Out of this 207 were vaccinated at nagli Dairy and 172 were vaccinated at doorstep. The mega camp was collectively organized by Delhi Veterinary Association, Indian Veterinary Association, Animal Husbandry Unit, Govt of NCT of Delhi , MCD, Canis Welfare Pet Club, Sonadi Welfare Trust, and Mouzer’s Kingdom. 

Beside camps vaccination of community owned dogs is being carried out throughout the month. Canis & IVA plan to administer 10,000 ARV to community dogs and 1000 community cats between 28th September to 15th November 2022. We are administering 10,000 ARVs since last six years. Free pamphlets to spread awareness about ARV were also distributed on this occasion.

Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) in collaboration with Canis Welfare Pet Club also with a motto of 'Zero by 2030' & Elimination of Dog mediated Rabies by 2030 had undertaken a month long activity to spread awareness about Rabies among schools kids and teens (potential suspected group of dog bite) through demonstration /nuker natak and other IEC activities. Till now four schools of Delhi had been covered:

1. Adarsh Public School, Bali Nagar

2. Adarsh Public School, Uttam nagar.

3. BVM Public School, Nazafgarh.

4. BVM World School, Nazafgarh.

These activities were carried out in associations with volunteers from 'yogismita' dance and drama group. 

The mega camp in Nagli Dairy Veterinary Hospital was graced by officials from Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt of India, NDMC, Veterinary Officer from Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Deputy Directors from MCD, Private Practitioners of Delhi.
