BSP extends support to SP for Lok Sabha bye election in UP. Arch rivals pool togather after 25 years of animosity.

UP Bye -elections have taken a new turn since the announcement by BSP supremo, of extending support to SP.  Showing political sagacity, both the Warring political leaders got togather, with the sole purpose of defeating the BJP. This unexpected turn of political decision, has possible left the ruling BJP in a turmoil. Though both BSP and SP had done badly in the 2017 assembly elections, but even then SP had secured 28%vote share and BSP romped in with 22 %.  This addition will be very tough to challenge, by the BJP party in these two elections.

The seats of Gorakhpur and Phulpur, had been vacated by the resignation of Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Prasad Maurya. Hence it is going to be a prestigious election, for both of them. A loss of both or either of the seats, will send wrong message, and bells have already been started ringing.

However the bargain part of this support is for SP support for BSP, in the Rajya Sabha elections. SP has 47 seats and BSP has only 19 seats,  in the assembly. Under such situation, BSP is not in a position to get its 1 member elected, until SP extend supports of its extra votes to it. Having resigned from Rajya Sabha, earlier Mayawati is keen to get back in the Parliament. Congress remains isolated in this scenario.  Congress has announced its candidates for both the seats.
So it will be test of  strength  and political acumen, in these 2 Lok Sabha by elections, voting for which is scheduled for 11th March and results to be declared on 14th March.
