5th Wajid Ali Shah Festival mesmerise Lucknow audience. Muzaffar Ali’s tribute to Yamuna.

Yamuna ki kahani-Kathak ki zubaani. Story of legendary Yamuna river whose life can be compared to that of a woman, full of ups and down, rise and fall, where her love for  Twin brother Yum and devotion towards Krishna. Presented in Kathak form, this Sufiana, cultural and historical musical extravaganza Yamuna Dariya Prem Ka,  left everyone mesmerised. 
The 5th Wajid Ali Shah festival held under the banner of Rumi Foundation, the musical ballet was conceived and directed by legendary Poet, filmmaker and painter Muzaffar Ali. Yamuna Dariya Prem Ka,  depicts the Ganga-Jamuni culture, which faced many upheaval during the periods. Another worth praising item of the lavish evening was Dastangoi , which narrated the lifetimes of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah and his court. The ballet was performed by Astha Dixit and her troupe consisting of Zulfiqar Umar, Richa Joshi,Mayukh Bhattacharya, Pallavi Basu Hina Hayat Khan, Deepak Ganguly, Sanskriti, Sombhit, Abhishekh Mohit, 
Besides Dastangoi, the evening had a presentation of Qawwali by renowned Samitha Rao Bhillur, who is considered to be the first women Indian singer in Qawwali. 
Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma was the Honourable Chief guest and accompanying him was UP Tourism Minister Mrs. Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Principal Secretary,  Tourism Awanesh Awasthi. Kumar Keshav -MD of LMRC was  felicitated  by Rumi Foundation on the occasion. The jam packed open air Dilkhusha Palace , witnessed full well appreciated audience of Lucknow. A great initiative of filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, Wajid Ali Shah festival is known for its classical and musical quality presentation.
