KGMU celebrates 69 Republic Day
Lucknow, 26th January, 2018: The 69 Republic Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at the prestigious KGMU Lucknow, where the honours of the flag hoisting was done by its VC Prof. MLB Bhatt. The VC wished the students, staff, and all members of KGMU a very happy Republic Day. He said that today on this day, Indian became a Republic and adopted constitution, prepared by its own citizens. It became a secular, democratic and free India. It showed Unity in diversity, full and all round development for all, which we must carry forward.
He reminded that the college was established 113 years ago, which was elevated to a rank of a University by UP Government. In 2008, it got the distinction of being conferred with Apex Institutions. In 2016, it was granted NIRF rank. It got 16th rank. In 2017; it got NAAC-A grade, a rare distinction which only KGMU has achieved in the state. It had also been conferred with eminence award by Institute of Eminence . It has been awarded to only 32 institution so far.
The VC said that KGMU has started new courses like Hospital Administration Department, and Medical Education Department. The Sports and Youth Ministry has set up Sports Medicine Department at KGMU. Paediatric department has got MCI recognition and help too. Human Milk Bank, a long cherished.project of the KGMU will soon be materialised.
A MOU has been signed with All India Speech and Hearing Aid to set up same at KGMU. Community Radio station has also been set up. The VC requested all his staff, students, and those present, to keep the KGMU campus Swatch and clean. A 220 bed Trauma Centre is to be set up for which a proposal on priority has been sent to the States UP Government. He said that KGMU lack manpower, Ventilators, and Organ transplant Units.It is for the state government to kindly consider its proposals on priorities.
“NAR SEVA NARAYAN SEVA”. he concluded by saying “SEVA PARMO DHARMA”.
