Commissionerate to be recommended, DGP O P Singh
Lucknow, 24th January : O P Singh a 1983 IPS officer took charge of the state police on 23rd January 2018. Addressing the media at the DGP HQ, He said his priority will be to curb encounters in the state. Police force which already is on right track, will be made more effective and efficient. Reducing the response time and dealing with crime incidents and law and order issues in a professional manner would key part of my agenda.
Singh a 1983 IPS, and who was serving as DG of CISF was released by Union government on Sunday. He will be DGP till Jan 2020, was given a warm reception at the HQ by DG Anand Kumar, ADG Lucknow zone and SSP Lucknow, and his staff after which he address the media. He said that Padmaavat will be released as per norms and the Supreme Court orders will be followed, and the roadies will be dealt properly and they will not be allowed to disturb the public life and vandalise picture hall.. He disclosed that the state needs a Commissionerate, which he will study and recommend to the government.
He also disclosed that 5000 Darogas and 8000 constables will be recruited soon.
Singh later on called on the Governor Naik and met the Chief Minister at Lok Bhawan.
