Women dominates in 13th Convocation of KGMU by winning most medals

Prof. BM Hegde, Chief Guest and Chairman of World Academic of Authentic Healing Sciences in Karnataka, and VC of Manipal University,   speaking on the occasion said that all of you should be ambassador of KGMU and try to give a strong alumni association. Just like Yerevan Ravi said, “try to be humbler as Sun”. Wisdom matters as saying goes Anubhoothi ie Experience matters. Citing example of renowned Egyptian Dr Maelvi, development of Humility most important for success. Giving a strong message to newly passed out Dr Hegde said “not to forget Parents and teachers ever in life. You must have Sympathy and Empathy, to be a good human being and Dr. Praising and complementing the present VC of KGMU, Prof. M L B Bhatt, as an able administrative genius. Hegde said always stand up and speak, just as Thomas Jafferson had set up an example. As Adyanathan said “nobody has seen God or wind, Medical Science has to change.”

Chancellor and U P Governor, in his speech said Dr Hegde message, which he gave today should be recorded and printed, as a lesson for generations to read. Emphasising that today’s world is for Women empowerment, and that todays Gold medalist have clearly shown that women have arrived, with 68% females winning as compared to 32% males. He praised Sarve Sikhsha Abhiyan, and that Beti Bachao Beti Parao,  slogan of PM,  is more in demand today than ever. Women are more in jobs, schools than ever.  Even our Defence Minister is a lady.

The VC Prof. MLB Bhatt said that there are 267 ongoing researches. 3 patents have been filed by the university. A total of 956 degrees were awarded on the occasion.  This year 157 students were awarded medals. He said that the university is in the process of affiliating all government medical colleges of the state.  They have already affiliated RMLIMS, Vivekananda and Command hospital.  Alongside they have affiliated 10 nursing and 10 paramedical colleges.  He also quoted the need of funds and manpower and also a new campus for proper development and expansion and also for accommodation facilities to the newly faculty members of nursing, paramedical and faculty of CFAR. VC also expressed his happiness on the inclusion of KGMU in the list of 32 educational institutions of Eminence amongst the 1000 universities and educational institutions of the country.

VC also amidst round of applause said KGMU has been credited with “A” grade by NAAC. VC also proudly announced that the institution has been adjudged 5th best for MBBS and 6th best for BDS courses nationally.

Hon’ble Chancellor of the University has also commanded the awardee students and wished them successful future.  He said that profession of medicine is a Nobel profession; through this one can serve poor patients and humanity.  Success can be found only through hard persistent efforts.

The Hewett gold medal for securing the highest number of marks in the final professional MBBS Part 2 went to Aprajita Chaturvedi. She won 19 Gold medals along with the Chancellor Gold medal and University Honours medal.

Awaredees including Prof. Sudhir Gupta and Prof. Gaura Rath, who  were conferred with DSc. Honaris Causa.
