101 years of “Swaraj is my birthright ,” celebrated with pomp n show in Lucknow.

Lucknow, 30th December, 2017: A gala function, to commemorate the 101 years, of Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s coined  Swaraj mera janam sidha adhikar hai, mein isko paakar rahoonga” was held at Lok Bhawan, Lucknow. The Honb’le Governor, Ram Naik chief guest, alongwith Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Maharashtra Chief Minister  Devender Fadnavis, Speaker Hardya Narain  Dixit, Dy. CM – Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma and Ministers  Rita Bahuguna, Suresh Khanna, and Neelkant Tiwari. The function was also graced by the relative of freedom fighters like Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, and many other freedom fighters. They were honoured by Governor, by Shawls and memento’s, handed over by Yogi  Adityanath and Fadnavis. It was a great moment, when the jam packed hall clapped for these freedom fighters and their relatives.

Book written by Arun Tiwari – Changed Times Unchanged Mission was also released on the occasion. Pune Mayor, Mukta Tilak, great grand-daughter of Tilak, also attended the function, alongwith Lucknow Mayor. Speaking on the occasion, Yogi Adityanath, said those who do not learn from history, loose their geographical values too, which they can’t save. These freedom fighters inspires us, for freedom and developed country. We insults our freedom fighters, when we ungratefully say that what we have got from independence. It was Tilak movement and the famous slogan, which ultimately led to the downfall of the British empire, from India. Chief Minister said, that when in 2020, we celebrate 75 years of independence, we must honour our freedom fighters by making this country free of Terrorism, corruption, no attacks on women, developed nation and feeling of Nationalism.

A special MOU was also signed on the occasion, between Maharastra and UP, Both the big states  are culturally related , with each others, since ages.  Both the states, have always exchanged cultural , films, languages and even great persons, who moved from one states to the other, like Tantia Tope, Rani Jhansi , and even Bhatkande, who settled in Lucknow, and set up  Bhatkande Music college, which is now a University. The Government has decided to celebrate UP Diwas, on 24th January, on special recommendation of the Governor, Ram Naik. Fadnavis informed that they will  be also celebrating UP Diwas in Maharashtra, this year onwards.

A pictorial book LOKMANYA, complied by Shailash Tilak, in Hindi was also released by the three dignitaries, Governor Naik, Yogi Adityanath, and Maharastra CM D. Fadnavis.

Davender Fadnavis, said on the occasion, that Tilak gave a new meaning to freedom movement, though it had begun with 1857 mutiny. Tilak gave a leadership push and became a torch bearer, for freedom movement. He said that India is a country to be reckoned with, in future, as the average age of the youth will be on our side, i.e 25 years. India has never been an aggressor, at any stage of history.  He reminded that just as many Maharastranian came to UP and settled here , similarly, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, came  from UP and settled in Maharashtra.

Governor Naik, was all praise for the present government to comply with his request to celebrate the 101 years of Tilak slogan, which incidentally he had coined in Lucknow itself.

Various students were also awarded  for best  in Debates, song in Sanskrit, and recitation of Gita, which was won by a muslim girl AAliya from Meerut.  Awinash Awasthi-Chief Secretary, UP Government  proposed a vote of thanks.
