Awaam Movement leads protest against rising rapes and violence on women in UP
Lucknow, 26 May, 2017: In a solidarity protest dharna, led by Awaam Movement, in Lucknow, against the rising rate of rapes and killing of innocent persons, all over Uttar Pradesh. Hundreds of volunteers and citizens of Lucknow gathered at Mahatma’s statue, at GPO today, on Friday 26th May 2017.
Addressing the huge gathering Rafat Fatima, Secretary of the Awaam Movement, appealed to the chief minister Adityanath Yogi about the deterioting law and order situation and rising crimes over women in the state. Also she highlighted the apathy of the police force towards the victims. She also expressed concern at the increasing rapes in Bulandshar and Barabanki.
She appealed to the Chief Minister to take strict action against the culprits and give compensation to the victims , at the earliest.
Mr. Mehndi from Sahyogi Foundations, Irshaad Rahi noted writer, Istri Mukti League and Pooja from ISA took part in the deliberations. They later sent a memorandum to the DM.
